25 Mar 2011
Norfolk County Council has won an award for the Hethel Engineering Centre at Hethel.
The council was named winner in the Economic Development and Regeneration category at the 2011 LGC (Local Government Chronicle) Awards.
Hethel, run by the county council, was opened in 2006, and acts as an enterprise hub to support new and established advanced manufacturing and engineering businesses in the county.
It has specialist office and workshop space for companies as well as giving them the use of other facilities including skills training and meeting rooms.
In September 2010, a £2.1m extension was officially opened creating a further 12 units.
Judges said the county council had put great emphasis on building a culture within the hub around a constant drive for best practice, innovation and skills development and above all to make the environment inspiring to young people.
