NORFOLK BUSINESS WINS GLOBAL CONTRACT

8 Dec 2010

Managed Perceptions has been awarded a contract to manage three global events

Managed Perceptions, the Norfolk-based exhibitions company, has been awarded a contract to manage three global events in Berlin, Mumbai and Chicago between now and October 2011. This contract award is the company's most significant to date and will ensure sustainable growth leading to many new opportunities

Not only is the project to be delivered on three continents, the client is based in the Channel Islands, proving that location is unimportant so long as you clearly demonstrate the value of the offer and work hard to convince new clients of your capabilities.

The contract will see Managed Perceptions, project manage all aspects of a series of specialised niche exhibitions focused on coil winding, insulation and electrical manufacturing. The company will be providing many essential services to the projects including, selling exhibition space, promoting the events, designing numerous elements of marketing support materials, developing new websites and social media marketing. The exhibitions may be niche but they are by no means small. The Berlin show is the world's largest in the sector with nearly 650 exhibitors and thousands of visitors.

So how does a Great Yarmouth company secure a contract to support global operations for a Channel Islands based client?

Timothy House (MD for the client) says "we had been looking for a contractor to work with us to successfully deliver these exhibitions for some time but had always felt that we were being guided down a path that they wanted to go down and not necessarily the one we wanted to take. My initial meeting with Steve was very different. We spent a few hours with him listening to what it was we wanted to achieve, no hard selling, just attentive listening and constructive questioning to clarify our requirements. From day one we felt that instead of being our contractor, they wanted to be part of our team and help develop our business alongside us. This was a very refreshing approach. We were also amazed and delighted to find a partner that had a multi-lingual team."

In addition to the initial support aspects of the contract, a major opportunity also exists with the full range of Managed Perceptions exhibition and marketing services being offered directly to the exhibitors as part of their integrated package in exhibiting. Steve Tubby, Managing Director of Managed Perceptions says "this is potentially enormous and could very easily generate very high levels of revenue, maybe as high as £1m. The potential is there, we just have to work hard to make it become reality. Obviously it goes without saying these are very exciting times. We are currently looking for new project offices and will be looking to increase our workforce to accommodate the increased workloads. Nice problems to have to make decisions on."
