Promoting the business case for workplace health across Norfolk

Good Health is Good for Business

Norfolk Chamber of Commerce is working with NHS Norfolk to highlight the business case for workplace health across Norfolk.

Why is it a concern for the business community? Well the statistics are quite startling for instance, did you know:
? 175 million working days are lost to sickness absence, costing almost £13 billion a year.
? Five cigarette breaks a day are equal to 28 working days a year.
? 25% of accidents at work are alcohol related, leading to 17 million working days a year lost through alcohol related absence.
? People who are physically active take 27% fewer days off sick.

There is a very strong business case for investment in employee health and well being and a range of practical examples are available which show that investing in the health and well-being of your workforce directly contributes to increased productivity and minimises financial risk. Maintaining good health means less absence through illness and a more positive workplace."
